Buyers continued to sign contracts to buy millions of tons of US LNG in 2023, inking the second-highest annual total ever. Three US projects went to FID and several others appeared poised to follow until the Biden Administration announced that it would pause regulatory reviews by the Department of Energy. This appears certain to delay many US projects, forcing project sponsors and potential buyers to reconsider their options.
